According to CryptoSlate, the transitional grace period for the EU's crypto regulation MiCA will officially end on July 1, 2026. As of May 2026, only 194 crypto companies within the EU have obtained formal licenses, while over 3,000 crypto enterprises registered in 2024. Approximately 75% of the old platforms are expected to lose their operating qualifications after the grace period ends.

Unlicensed platforms must orderly shut down before the deadline, transfer users to licensed platforms, or completely exit the European market. The French regulatory authority AMF has taken the toughest stance, clearly warning that unlicensed operations could face up to 2 years in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros. For ordinary users, if the platform they use fails to obtain a MiCA license, they may face situations such as being unable to deposit funds or being required to withdraw their funds.
